Job summary

Better Tomorrow Support Services in Deception Bay, QLD, is seeking experienced Disability Support Workers for casual roles in the North Brisbane area. You will support participants with high and complex needs, helping them access community activities, maintain independence, and engage in meaningful routines.

We value dignity, respect and person-centred practice. Applicants may be current students or graduates in Allied Health and must be flexible for shift work, including nights, with ongoing

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, person-centred support to participants.
• Assist participants to access community activities, church, culture and events.
• Document interactions and coordinate with the care team.
• Contribute to planning and delivering specialist supports as part of the team.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

We're seeking people who genuinely care about making a difference and are committed to delivering high-quality, person-centred support.

Highly Regarded Experience & Attributes

• Experience supporting people with high and complex disability support needs
• Be able to work across a range of shifts (Shift work required)
• Experience supporting participants with complex behavioural, mental health and disability-related support needs
• Experience providing high-intensity health supports (Diabetes)
• Experience implementing Positive Behaviour Support strategies and working within Positive Behaviour Support Plans
• A proactive approach to supporting participants to access their community, build independence and engage in meaningful activities beyond the home
• Commitment to promoting choice, dignity, inclusion and cultural respect in every interaction
• Experience supporting participants to maintain connections with their culture, faith, community and personal interests, including church attendance, cultural events, education, volunteering, sporting activities and recreational pursuits
• Strong communication, documentation and teamwork skills
• Current students or graduates in Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Speech Pathology, Psychology, Social Work or other Allied Health disciplines are encouraged to apply and will be highly regarded
• Experience driving participants within the community, including use of accessible vehicles
• Current Blue Card, NDIS Worker Screening Clearance, First Aid and CPR (or willingness to obtain)
• Completion of Queensland Foundations of Child Safety Training, or willingness to complete as part of onboarding

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

• Current Driver's Licence
• First Aid & CPR Certificate
• NDIS Worker Screening Check (Yellow Card)
• Blue Card (Working with Children Check)
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including active nights and sleepovers
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
