Job summary

Apunipima Cape York Health Council in Cairns, QLD, is seeking a dedicated Support Worker to provide practical, administrative and community engagement support for the Suicide Prevention Education and Training Program across Cape York communities.

You will ensure program delivery, coordinate activities with local communities, and engage participants while meeting pre-employment vaccination screening requirements. A Blue Card, driver's license and police check are essential.

Qualifications

• Current Blue Card positive notice or exemption, or willing to obtain prior to commencement.
• Current Queensland Drivers Licence.
• National Police Check within last 3 months or willing to obtain prior to commencement.
• Willingness to enrol in a Certificate III in Community Services, Mental Health, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care, Business Administration or qualification relevant to the position.
• Experience providing administrative, community engagement or program support.
• Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively within a team and contribute to positive community outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Provide practical, administrative and community engagement support to assist with the delivery of the Suicide Prevention Education and Training Program.
• Support the delivery across participating Cape York communities.
• Assist with pre-employment screening as required.

Apunipima Cape York Health Council is a community controlled Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander health service. Servicing the communities of Cape York, with the main office located in Cairns, Apunipima delivers public health care, and social and emotional well-being programs, to community members. Being a part of the team at Apunipima means helping us deliver essential services as well as building capacity in communities to manage their own health care needs.

About the Opportunity

There is a genuine occupational requirement under Section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld), for this position to be filled by an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person. The position is therefore only open to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander applicants.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Support Worker to provide practical, administrative and community engagement support to assist with the delivery of the Suicide Prevention Education and Training Program across participating Cape York communities.

Pre-employment screening for vaccination against Vaccine Preventable Diseases will be conducted for the successful applicant.

About You

To be successful in this role you will have:
