• Update stakeholders via the Smartways transport management system and via phone/email.
• Respond to service disruptions with the Customer Service team.
• Monitor driver GPS trackers and plan volumes for next day.

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

The Supply and Distribution Manager is responsible to Direct and coordinate courier drivers, contractors and support staff to ensure adequate coverage across all delivery routes and shifts, ensuring that consignments are delivered on-time in-full on a daily basis.

This position is key to ensuring high levels of service are maintained and customer expectations are met. The Supply and Distribution Manager will be energetic and passionate about their work and will champion Smartways’ position in the Healthcare Supply Chain, where we strive to deliver solutions that positively impact patient outcomes.

Roles And Responsibilities

• Coordinate a fleet of contract drivers across VICTORIA using Smartways’ technology and phone calls
• Allocate and distribute jobs in a timely, efficient and equitable manner in order to meet delivery KPI’s
• Ensure all supply and distribution activities comply with WHS, transport, and industry-specific regulatory requirements (including site access and radioactive materials handling where applicable).
• Update internal and external stakeholders via the Smartways’ bespoke transport management system and via phone/email/messenger services
• Respond to calls from the Smartways Customer Service team / function regarding queries / service disruptions in a timely manner
• Contribute towards non-conformance investigations
• Ensure collection and cut-off times for road and air linehauls are met daily
• Assist fleet and dispatch team with consolidation/de-consolidation of freight at peak periods throughout the day
• Compliance with Australian chain of responsibility (CoR) laws
• Monitoring driver GPS trackers
• Evaluate next day volumes and plan accordingly

Academic Qualifications

• High School Certificate/Diploma in relevant field

• Demonstrated experience in a supply chain, logistics, courier or distribution management role, ideally within medical, healthcare or time-critical freight environments.
• Strong communication skills and a pleasant phone manner
• Work well within a team environment to achieve a common goal
• Good decision making and problem-solving skills
• Pro-active approach to the task at hand (including providing updates internally and externally)
• Excellent planning skills and a strong geographical knowledge of Metro Melbourne and surrounding areas
• Familiarity with Chain of Responsibility laws
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
