Job summary

WorkPac Group in Berkeley Vale, NSW, seeks a Supplier Development & Quality Lead to oversee supplier development, audits and quality for local and international suppliers. You will drive supplier performance, resolve non-conformances and improve cost, quality and delivery across critical industrial operations.

The position requires a trade qualification in Boilermaking or related discipline, 5+ years in fabrication/heavy industry, and experience with supplier assessments, QA/QC and negotiations.

Qualifications

  • Trade qualification in Boilermaking, Fabrication, Welding or Mechanical Fitting.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in fabrication, manufacturing or heavy industry.
  • Experience in supplier assessment, quality inspection and outsourced manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of fabrication drawings, specifications and manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to travel interstate and internationally.

Responsibilities

  • Lead supplier development, qualification and performance management.
  • Conduct supplier audits, inspections and capability assessments.
  • Inspect fabrication, welding, materials, coatings and finished products.
  • Ensure suppliers meet engineering drawings, quality plans and client requirements.
  • Manage supplier non-conformances and corrective actions through to resolution.
  • Review supplier quotations for technical compliance, risk and value.
  • Negotiate pricing, payment terms and supplier agreements.
  • Coordinate procurement activities from sourcing to delivery.
  • Monitor supplier progress, costs and delivery performance.
  • Drive continuous improvement across supplier capability, quality, cost and delivery.

SUPPLIER DEVELOPMENT & QUALITY LEAD

About Our Client:

Our client is a leading provider of wear-resistant solutions, specialising in protecting heavy-duty equipment from wear and impact With operations across multiple Australian locations and an international supply network, the business combines engineering, manufacturing and quality expertise to support customers across the mining, minerals and industrial sectors.

What you will be doing:
  • Lead supplier development, qualification and performance management across local and overseas suppliers.
  • Conduct supplier audits, inspections and capability assessments.
  • Inspect fabrication, welding, dimensions, materials, coatings, linings and finished products.
  • Ensure suppliers meet engineering drawings, specifications, quality plans and client requirements.
  • Manage supplier non-conformances, corrective actions and quality issues through to resolution.
  • Review supplier quotations and proposals for technical compliance, risk and value.
  • Negotiate pricing, payment terms and supplier agreements.
  • Manage procurement activities from sourcing and purchase orders through to delivery.
  • Monitor supplier progress, quality, costs and delivery performance.
  • Coordinate local and international freight, logistics and shipment requirements.
  • Work with internal teams to resolve supplier issues and prevent impacts to production or customers.
  • Drive continuous improvement across supplier capability, quality, cost and delivery.
What you will need:
  • Trade qualification in Boilermaking, Fabrication, Welding, Mechanical Fitting or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in fabrication, manufacturing or heavy industry.
  • Demonstrated experience in supplier assessment, quality inspection and outsourced manufacturing.
  • Strong understanding of fabrication drawings, specifications and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience in supplier negotiations, sourcing or procurement.
  • Strong knowledge of fabrication, welding and QA/QC processes.
  • Excellent communication, organisation, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Competent with Microsoft Office and ERP/CRM systems.
  • Ability and willingness to travel interstate and internationally.
Highly Regarded
  • Welding Inspector or Welding Supervisor qualifications.
  • Quality Assurance or Lead Auditor experience.
  • Mining, mineral processing or wear-resistant solutions experience.
  • Experience managing overseas suppliers and international logistics.
  • Experience with Visual inspection software.
