Job summary

Reef Catchments in the Mackay region is seeking a Manager - Sugarcane to lead the planning, resourcing and delivery of the Sugarcane sub-program, turning priorities into actionable work plans and budgets. You will oversee project delivery, engage with landholders, industry, government and researchers, and ensure milestones and reporting meet program objectives.

You will lead a team, manage staffing, funding obligations and risk, while driving continuous improvement and sustainable agriculture

Qualifications

• Significant experience leading programs or a portfolio of projects.
• Demonstrated experience leading staff and managing recruitment, performance, workforce planning and capability development.
• Demonstrated experience managing project obligations, quality assurance, reporting and continuous improvement.
• Demonstrated experience building productive relationships with community, industry, government and other delivery partners, including weekend/work outside ordinary hours when required.

Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, resourcing and delivery of Sugarcane sub-programs and projects.
• Lead, support and develop the Sugarcane team, including workforce planning, performance management, coaching and capability development.
• Manage project budgets, resources, milestones, risks and funding obligations to ensure delivery within approved scope and timeframes.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with sugarcane growers, industry, government, Traditional Owners, research organisations, funders and community partners.
• Support landholder practice change and the delivery of sustainable agriculture and water-quality outcomes across the region.
• Oversee project monitoring, evaluation, reporting and quality assurance, ensuring funding and organisational requirements are met.
• Identify opportunities for future funding, partnerships and program development, including contributing to funding proposals and project design.
• Represent Reef Catchments at relevant industry, community, technical and program forums.
• Provide clear advice to the Program Director on program performance, emerging risks, resourcing needs and strategic opportunities.
• Support continuous improvement across the Sugarcane program by using project outcomes, stakeholder feedback and lessons learned to improve future delivery.
• Ensure the team and delivery partners operate safely and in line with WHS, contractual, funding and organisational requirements.
