Job summary

Zinfra Group is seeking a Protection & Control Design Engineer to join our team on Zone Substation projects across the Victorian energy infrastructure. You will develop high-quality protection and control designs, perform calculations, review schemes, and support commissioning with internal and partner teams.

Ideal candidates hold an Electrical Engineering degree, experience in substations, and knowledge of Pacsis/SDME/NXG; strong communication and safety mindset are essential to ensure safe,

Qualifications

• Ideal is a degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent recognised by Engineers Australia.
• Experience in Protection & Control design within substations or electrical utility environments.
• Knowledge of protection systems, SCADA and control equipment.
• Familiarity with Pacsis, Ausnet SDME, Noja Power CMS, Proview NXG.
• Experience preparing engineering documentation and technical designs.
• Familiarity with Australian Standards and IEC standards.
• Knowledge of SAP systems is preferable but not essential.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• The ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining high quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Deliver feeder protection and control designs for Zone Substation and Distribution Lines projects.
• Prepare engineering calculations, protection settings reports, schematics, panel layouts and design documentation.
• Review and verify protection and control engineering designs to ensure quality and compliance.
• Provide engineering and commissioning support to internal teams and delivery partners as required.
• Investigate protection system issues and develop practical engineering solutions.
• Assist with project planning, estimating and technical specifications related to the secondary and protection settings designs.
• Work closely with stakeholders to deliver safe, high-quality project outcomes.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and engineering best practice.
• Support and share knowledge with colleagues across the business.
