Job summary

Zinfra, a leading infrastructure services provider in energy and utilities, seeks a Protection & Control Design Engineer for Melbourne-based Zone Substation projects. You will deliver feeder protection designs, prepare technical documents, and collaborate with engineers, project managers and field teams to ensure high-quality outcomes.

Ideal candidates have an Electrical Engineering degree and hands-on protection/SCADA experience, with strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent recognised by Engineers Australia.
• Experience in Protection & Control design within substations or electrical utility environments.
• Knowledge of protection systems, SCADA and control equipment.

Responsibilities

• Deliver feeder protection and control designs for Zone Substation and Distribution Lines projects.
• Prepare engineering calculations, protection settings reports, schematics, panel layouts and design documentation.
• Review and verify protection and control engineering designs to ensure quality and compliance.
• Provide engineering and commissioning support to internal teams and delivery partners as required.
• Investigate protection system issues and develop practical engineering solutions.
• Assist with project planning, estimating and technical specifications related to the secondary and protection settings designs.
• Work closely with stakeholders to deliver safe, high-quality project outcomes.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and engineering best practice.
• Support and share knowledge with colleagues across the business.
