Job summary

The City of Sydney’s Cultural Programs and Services team seeks a motivated Studio Coordinator to support studio spaces across multiple cultural facilities. You’ll coordinate safe, accessible environments, provide technical advice, oversee assets, and implement safety standards.

The role is hands-on and multi-faceted, involving studio operations, workplace health and safety, and program support, with occasional involvement in public-facing projects.

Qualifications

• Advanced ceramic technical skills covering kiln management and reclaim procedures.
• Experience coordinating studio, workshop, cultural or technical spaces.
• Experience applying workplace health and safety requirements in operations.
• Strong organisational, planning and problem-solving abilities across sites.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills for tutors, Contractors and participants.
• Current Working with Children Check or ability to obtain one.

About The Role

The City of Sydney's Cultural Programs and Services team is seeking a motivated and organised Studio Coordinator to support the effective operation of our creative studio spaces across multiple cultural facilities.

You’ll play a key role in coordinating safe, accessible and well‑functioning studio environments that support our community and our program teams. Working closely with Program Coordinators, you'll provide technical advice, oversee studio assets and equipment, and implement best‑practice operational and safety standards.

The role is hands‑on and varied, combining studio operations, workplace health and safety and program support. You may also assist with the delivery of public‑facing creative programs and events from time to time.

We're Looking For Someone With

• advanced ceramic technical skills encompassing kiln management, clay reclaim procedures, studio safety standards
• experience coordinating studio, workshop, creative, cultural or technical spaces
• experience applying workplace health and safety requirements within an operational environment
• strong organisational, planning and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities across multiple sites
• excellent communication and relationship‑building skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with tutors, contractors, staff and community participants
• a current Working with Children Check, or the ability to obtain one.

This role has the option of a rostered day off each month, known as a 19-day month.

The recommended applicant must complete a pre‑employment health declaration, medical assessment and criminal history check.
