Job summary

Zeal Futures Pty is seeking a Student Wellbeing Support Officer to join our team as we expand to Years 11 and 12, with the role commencing in January 2027. You will work closely with students, teachers and wellbeing staff to provide hands-on support that enhances engagement and success.

You will facilitate enrolment interviews, liaise with students and families to complete paperwork, and assist in formulating Individual Learning Plans to support learning and positive social development.

Qualifications

  • Certificate IV or higher in Youth Work, Social Work or Community Services
  • Experience working with children or young people
  • Experience in a school environment with group facilitation
  • Strong collaboration with stakeholders to support pastoral care of students
  • Ability to develop knowledge, understanding, and skills to support learning and behavior
  • Capacity to work with teachers and leaders to support at-risk students' social development

Responsibilities

Job description

Zeal Futures' independent secondary school currently supports students in Years 9 and 10, providing an engaging, inclusive and supportive learning environment. The school will expand to include Years 11 and 12, with this role commencing in January 2027 .This is a unique and rewarding opportunity to be part of the continued growth of our school and make a genuine difference in the day-to-day learning, engagement and wellbeing of young people through hands-on classroom support.

As our Student Wellbeing Support Officer, you will work closely with our students, teachers and wellbeing staff to provide hands-on support that enhances student engagement and success. You will also be responsible for:

  • Facilitate student enrolment, conduct interviews, and assist students and families to complete enrolment paperwork.
  • Liaise with students, carers/parents/guardians and other stakeholders to resolve student issues
  • Assist in the formulation of Individual Learning Plans with teaching staff and resourcing staff with strategies that appropriately combat cognitive, sensory and/or social/ emotional challenges
  • Identify, monitor, and develop intervention strategies, in consultation with all stakeholders

What you'll bring to the table
  • Certificate IV, Diploma, Bachelor in Youth Work, Social Work or Community Services (or equivalent).
  • Experience working with children and/or young people.
  • Experience working within a school environment, with group facilitation experience highly regarded
  • Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with different stakeholders to support the pastoral care of students
  • Ability to assist students in developing knowledge, understanding, and skills to support learning, positive behaviour, and constructive social relationships
  • Capacity to work closely with classroom teachers and school leaders to provide targeted social, emotional and life skill development for at‑risk students
