Job summary

The Victorian Government department invites applications for the Mental Health and Wellbeing Leader at Stevensville Primary School in Melbourne. This role collaborates with the Principal Class Team and wellbeing staff to support student engagement, inclusion and a positive school culture.

You will lead behavioural support, coordinate referrals and facilitate school-wide programs, focusing on students facing social and emotional challenges and strengthening community partnerships.

Qualifications

• Knowledge and experience supporting the social, emotional, behavioural and wellbeing needs of primary school students and the ability to plan and implement individual and small-group interventions.
• Organisational, case management and interpersonal skills, including building relationships with students, families, staff and external professionals.
• Ability to identify, coordinate and facilitate internal and external supports and referral pathways for students and families.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal support for students facing social, emotional, behavioural, attendance or engagement issues.
• Collaborate with students, families, staff and leadership to promote positive outcomes and smooth transitions.
• Develop and review behavioural support plans and assist staff with proactive strategies.
• Support mandatory reporting, child safety and risk management processes.
• Support Disability Inclusion processes, including documentation and participation in Student Support Groups.
• Facilitate effective communication with families and external professionals.
• Support SWPBS implementation and related programs.
• Plan and facilitate targeted social-emotional learning interventions.
• Refer students to external health and community services as needed.
• Coordinate food support, material aid and uniform relief programs.
• Lead community partnerships and student programs, including health initiatives and external opportunities.
