Job summary

Anglicare WA is seeking a part-time Specialist in Student Wellbeing for the Menzies area. The role involves engaging with students, connecting them to school staff, and outreach to disengaged youths and families.

You will support youths in accessing community services and facilitating wellbeing workshops within the school setting. Qualified applicants hold a Cert IV in Youth Work or equivalent, and can work in a dynamic school environment while upholding inclusive practices for Aboriginal, CaLD,

Qualifications

  • Cert IV in Youth Work or a relevant tertiary qualification enabling registration as a counsellor, teacher, social worker, psychologist or nurse.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced dynamic school environment.
  • Contemporary knowledge of issues affecting children and young people.
  • Ability to work with children and young people from diverse backgrounds and abilities, cultures, including Aboriginal & CaLD, LGBTQIA+ groups.

Responsibilities

  • Engage with students through school-based activities and connect them with professional staff.

Join Anglicare WA’sStudent Wellbeing Service where you will engage with students through a wide range of school-based activities, provide support for students to connect with professional staff within the school, outreach to disengaged students and their families, support young people to access and connect with community based services, andfacilitate school wellbeing workshops or programs.

This is a max-term, part-time opportunity (7.5 hours per week) until Jan 2027, based inMenzies.

Desired Skills and Experience
About you

You will bring energy, enthusiasm and a desire to have impact. You will have:

  • Cert IV in Youth Work, other relevant Cert IV or tertiary qualification that permits registration as a counsellor, teacher, social worker, psychologist, nurse or midwife.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced dynamic school environment
  • Have contemporary knowledge of the issues impacting children and young people
  • Ability to accept,respect and work with children and young people:
    • from a broad range of backgrounds and abilities
    • from different cultures, particularly with Aboriginal & CaLD young people
    • who may identify asLGBTQIA+
    • from all belief systems
  • Understanding of education system
  • Ability to facilitate small groups

The successful candidate must also posses a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check from Dpt. of Education no older than 12 months. Please note that the organisation may seek to request an international police clearance if necessary.

Remuneration and benefits
  • Employed under Anglicare WA’s Employee Collective Agreement
  • Contract length – to 29 January 2027
  • Work only during school terms
  • From $46.71+ 10% Remote localities allowance + 12% super + annual leave and personal leave (accrued based on hours worked)
  • Pay for hours worked (+ accrued annual leave) is spread across the entire term of employment contract, ensuring a pay every fortnight
  • Additional remuneration for induction training and required professional development
  • Salary Packaging Benefits (package up to $15,900 per annum)
