Job summary

The Islamic College of Brisbane is seeking a dedicated Student Support Coordinator to provide practical, school-wide support for Primary and Secondary students, focusing on behaviour, wellbeing, attendance and engagement within a Muslim ethos.

You will coordinate interventions, support staff and families, maintain accurate records and collaborate with College teams to promote positive outcomes for students across Prep to Year 12.

Qualifications

• Relevant tertiary or vocational qualification in Education, Youth Work, Community Services, Behaviour Support, Psychology, Counselling, Social Work or a related discipline.
• Experience supporting children or young people with behaviour, wellbeing, attendance or engagement concerns, preferably in a school setting.
• Ability to build positive, professional relationships with students, families and staff.
• Experience responding calmly to challenging behaviour and difficult situations.
• Strong organisation and record-keeping while protecting confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Support the consistent application of student behaviour policies across Prep to Year 12.
• Respond to behaviour referrals and work with students on self-regulation and positive behaviour strategies.
• Identify wellbeing and engagement concerns and refer for specialist intervention as needed.
• Support attendance and engagement concerns, liaising with families and staff.
• Coordinate an allocated caseload, including student support plans and interventions.
• Provide guidance to teachers and collaborate with College teams to support students.
• Build constructive relationships with families and communicate about student wellbeing.
• Maintain accurate student records and monitor escalation of safety concerns.
