Job summary

NSW Department of Education is seeking a Student Support Officer to work within the school community to enhance student wellbeing and learning outcomes. The role involves providing individual wellbeing support and contributing to whole-school wellbeing initiatives in partnership with the wellbeing team and counselling service.

Two full-time temporary Above Centrally Identified positions may be created; duration subject to funding and school needs.

Qualifications

• Diploma or higher in social work, youth work, welfare or related discipline.
• Knowledge of the Department’s Aboriginal education policies.
• Valid Working With Children Check (WWCC) is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and targeted wellbeing support to students.
• Deliver whole-school wellbeing initiatives and programs.
• Collaborate with wellbeing team and school counselling service.
• Create referral pathways to child and family support agencies with external partners.

They have a pivotal role in working collaboratively with external agencies and creating referral pathways for students and families to child and family support agencies.

Essential Requirements

• A completed diploma or higher qualification in social work, youth work, welfare or related discipline must be attached along with your application
• Knowledge of and commitment to the Department’s Aboriginal education policies
