Job summary

Council of the City of Ryde is seeking a motivated Student Planner to join the Development Advisory and Insights team on a permanent part-time basis (21 hours per week).

You will assist with planning research, trend analysis and housing/employment growth monitoring using planning databases, GIS, the NSW Planning Portal and other analytical tools. Gain exposure to policy development and urban planning challenges.

Qualifications

• Current enrolment in a Town Planning degree or related discipline such as Geography, GIS, Urbanism, Economic Development.
• Interest in planning, development and urban growth.
• Strong research, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Willingness to learn and contribute to continuous improvement.
• Experience using Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Creative Suite or similar software.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning research, development trend analysis and monitoring of housing and employment growth.
• Work with planning databases, GIS systems, the NSW Planning Portal and other analytical tools.
• Support planning projects and policy development.
• Gain exposure to planning policy, growth forecasting and urban planning challenges.
• Collaborate with experienced planners to build practical skills for a future career.
