Job summary

The NSW Department of Education invites applications for a School Learning Support Officer to assist students with identified learning needs, including disability, in classrooms and other learning environments under teacher direction. This role supports student welfare, health and wellbeing activities as required, and may provide targeted help for pre-school, vision, hearing, and bilingual streams.

Applicants should have Working with Children Check Clearance and be prepared to undertake required

Qualifications

• Working with Children Check Clearance.
• Mandatory training required by the Department of Education and willingness to undertake first aid training.
• Administration of Medications – training provided based on student needs.
• Health support training provided based on student needs.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Ability to work with students with emotional, physical or intellectual disabilities.
• Awareness of the needs of students with such disabilities.
• Effective communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support students with identified learning needs and disabilities in classrooms and other learning environments under teacher direction to support educational outcomes.
• Provide student welfare, health and wellbeing activities as required.
• Support streams/settings such as pre-school, vision support, hearing support, and bilingual programs with additional duties.
• Work collaboratively as part of a team to implement individual education plans and inclusive practices.
