Job summary

NSW Department of Education is seeking a School Learning Support Officer to assist students with identified learning needs under teacher supervision. You will contribute to welfare, health and wellbeing activities and may provide targeted support across streams such as pre-school, vision, hearing and bilingual settings.

Essential requirements include Working with Children Check, mandatory training, and demonstrated teamwork and effective communication with students who have disabilities.

Qualifications

• Working with Children Check Clearance.
• Mandatory training required by the Department of Education.
• Administration of Medications – training provided.
• Health support training provided.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Ability to work with students with emotional, physical or intellectual disabilities.
• Effective communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support students with identified diverse learning needs under the direction of a teacher.
• Provide student welfare, health and wellbeing activities as required.
• Support in streams/settings: pre-school, vision support, hearing support, and bilingual.
