Job summary

The NSW Department of Education is seeking a School Learning Support Officer to assist students with diverse learning needs in classrooms and learning environments. You will work under the direction of a teacher to support educational outcomes and contribute to student welfare and wellbeing activities.

Roles may include support across streams such as pre-school, vision, hearing, and bilingual settings, with additional duties as required.

Qualifications

• Working with Children Check Clearance is required.
• Mandatory training required by the Department of Education; willingness to undertake first aid training.
• Administration of Medications – training provided based on student needs.
• Health support training provided based on student needs (subject to transition provisions).
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Ability to work with students with emotional, physical or intellectual disabilities.
• Effective communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide support for students with identified diverse learning needs under teacher direction.
• Support student welfare, health and wellbeing activities as required.
• Assist in streams/settings such as pre-school, vision support, hearing support, and bilingual programs.
• Support the achievement of educational outcomes within learning environments.
