Job summary

HDR invites a Structural Engineer with bridge design experience to join HDR's Transport Structures team in Brisbane or Melbourne, delivering a diverse portfolio of bridge and transport projects.

You'll work with experienced engineers and multidisciplinary teams across Australia and internationally, performing analysis, design, and documentation throughout the project lifecycle while growing your technical capabilities and contributing to HDR's Drive to Zero safety and innovation initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• 2–10 years' experience in structural engineering, ideally with bridges and transport structures.
• Experience on transportation infrastructure projects within multidisciplinary teams.
• Proficiency in Midas Civil, SpaceGass, Strand7, SBD and Excel.
• Interest in digital engineering and parametric modelling approaches.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes.
• Genuine commitment to HDR's employee-owned culture.

• Undertake engineering analysis and design for bridge and transport structure projects.
• Develop structural designs, calculations, drawings, and specifications.
• Contribute to the design of reinforced concrete, prestressed concrete, and steel structures.

• Prepare technical documentation and reports for review by senior engineers.
• Participate in bridge inspections, condition assessments, and occasional site visits.
• Support the continued growth and success of HDR's Bridges and Structures team.
• Contribute to safety, quality, and innovation initiatives, including HDR's Drive to Zero commitment.

The Opportunity

Based in either Brisbane or Melbourne, you'll work within a highly collaborative team, supporting the design and delivery of bridges and transport structures for major infrastructure projects. This role offers the opportunity to build your technical capabilities while working alongside experienced engineers and multidisciplinary teams.

You'll be involved in the full project lifecycle, from analysis and design through to inspections, reporting, and construction support, helping to deliver innovative and practical solutions for our clients.

What We're Looking For

• Experience working on transportation infrastructure projects within multidisciplinary teams.
• Knowledge of structural analysis and design software such as Midas Civil, SpaceGass, Strand7, SBD, and Excel.
• Interest in digital engineering and parametric modelling approaches.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes.
