Job summary

HDR is seeking a Structural Engineer in Australia (Brisbane or Melbourne) to join the Bridges and Structures group. You will work on bridge and transport structures, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality infrastructure projects.

The role involves analysis, design, and documentation for reinforced and prestressed concrete as well as steel structures, with a focus on delivering practical, innovative solutions while upholding HDR's safety and inclusion standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Approximately 2-10 years' experience in structural engineering, ideally with a focus on bridges and transport structures.
• Experience working on transportation infrastructure projects within multidisciplinary teams.
• Knowledge of structural analysis and design software such as Midas Civil, SpaceGass, Strand7, SBD, and Excel.
• Interest in digital engineering and parametric modelling approaches.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes.
• A motivated and proactive approach to learning and professional growth.
• A genuine commitment to contributing to HDR's employee-owned culture.

Responsibilities

• Undertake engineering analysis and design for bridge and transport structure projects.
• Develop structural designs, calculations, drawings, and specifications.
• Contribute to the design of reinforced concrete, prestressed concrete, and steel structures.
• Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and contractors to achieve successful project outcomes.
• Prepare technical documentation and reports for review by senior engineers.
• Participate in bridge inspections, condition assessments, and occasional site visits.
• Support the continued growth and success of HDR's Bridges and Structures team.
• Contribute to safety, quality, and innovation initiatives, including HDR's Drive to Zero commitment.
• Foster a positive and inclusive team culture aligned with HDR's values.
