Job summary

TALCON is seeking a Structural Engineer to join our Southbank, VIC office on a full-time, on-site basis. The role involves design, analysis, and delivery of innovative structural solutions for diverse sectors, in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.

You will contribute to safe and sustainable built environments, mentored by senior engineers and supported by a culture of technical excellence at TALCON.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or equivalent.
• PE/CPEng registration or pursuing in Australia.
• 3–5 years of structural design and analysis experience.
• Proficiency with SAP2000, ETABS and Revit.
• Knowledge of Australian Building Standards (AS/NZS).
• Strong drafting and CAD skills.
• Excellent communication in multidisciplinary teams.
• BIM experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

TALCON Engineers is seeking a talented Structural Engineer to join our growing team in Southbank, VIC. This is a full-time position that offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to significant structural engineering projects across diverse sectors. As a Structural Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the design, analysis, and delivery of innovative structural solutions that meet the highest standards of safety, sustainability, and performance. This position is based on-site at our Southbank office and will see you working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to shape the built environment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and refine structural designs using advanced engineering principles and design standards to meet project requirements and regulatory compliance
• Conduct detailed structural analysis and calculations using industry-leading software and modelling tools
• Prepare comprehensive structural drawings, specifications, and technical documentation for construction and tender purposes
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate structural solutions into overall project design
• Perform site inspections and assessments to evaluate existing structures and identify opportunities for optimisation and improvement
• Provide technical advice and recommendations to clients, contractors, and project teams throughout all project phases
• Ensure compliance with relevant building codes, standards, and safety regulations in all design and construction activities
• Contribute to project cost estimation, scheduling, and quality assurance processes
• Mentor junior team members and contribute to continuous improvement of engineering practices and processes

About you

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline
• Professional Engineering qualification or commitment to obtaining Professional Engineer (CPEng) registration in Australia
• Minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in structural engineering design and analysis
• Proficiency with industry-standard structural analysis and design software such as SAP2000, ETABS, Revit, or equivalent
• Strong knowledge of Australian Building Standards, AS/NZS codes, and relevant design standards
• Excellent technical drawing and documentation skills with proficiency in CAD software
• Solid understanding of structural systems including concrete, steel, timber, and composite materials
• Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail in technical work
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams
• Experience with Building Information Modelling (BIM) is highly desirable
