Job summary

Nine in Sydney is seeking a Hands-on Technical Lead to guide the Streaming frontend development team for Connected TV Web. Designed for a technical expert who loves growing people as much as building software, this hybrid role balances team leadership with direct code contribution.

You will champion AI tooling, drive high-availability TV Web applications, and uphold security and CI/CD standards while mentoring engineers and collaborating with Product, Designers, and external partners.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software development experience with 2+ years in leadership roles.
• Deep hands-on expertise in JavaScript, TypeScript, Node.js and Connected TV platforms.
• Strong foundation in RESTful services and scalable API design.
• Deep understanding of Agile/Lean practices and CI/CD pipelines.
• Practical experience with AI tools to increase team velocity.

Responsibilities

• Build & Architect high-availability TV Web applications and scalable architecture.
• Champion AI tooling and automate workflows to stay ahead of tech trends.
• Uphold engineering standards with code reviews, tests, and secure pipelines.
• Lead R&D spikes from trial to rollout and measure success.
• Manage and coach engineers through hiring, performance reviews, and career growth.
• Mentor team members to reduce single points of failure and promote cross-skilling.
• Enable agile delivery by removing roadblocks within Scrum processes.
• Foster a learning culture rooted in diversity and psychological safety.
• Partner with Product, Design, and external partners to translate tech to business value.
