Job summary

Nine is Australia’s largest locally owned media company, with a hybrid work model and a 12-month contract for a Technical Lead to shape AI-powered products from the Digital Archive. You will define the technical roadmap, make architectural decisions, and write code alongside the engineering group to unlock new revenue streams.

You will lead end-to-end design, ensure security and compliance, and mentor engineers while collaborating with cross-functional teams across the organisation.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with leadership
• Experience architecting high-volume, large-scale systems
• Hands-on with Go, JavaScript, React, Python, and Bash
• Deep familiarity with AWS and/or GCP services and cloud security
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and CI/CD pipelines
• Experience with PostgreSQL and containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Strong knowledge of networking, monitoring, and logging stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK)
• Bachelor’s degree in CS/Engineering or equivalent experience

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary technical architect and hands-on full-stack engineer
• Design, develop, and maintain secure, scalable cloud-native applications
• Set engineering standards, CI/CD, and IaC practices; mentor engineers
• Lead cross-team collaborations and drive technical roadmaps and delivery
