Job summary

Walcha Council is seeking a strategic Infrastructure & Development leader to take responsibility for water, waste and urban services. You will report directly to the Director of Infrastructure & Development, lead three coordinators, and build the asset management and forward planning the function has never had.

The role offers the chance to shape strategy with Council leadership and deliver significant community outcomes.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in civil/environmental engineering, environmental science, or related discipline.
• Experience managing water, wastewater and/or waste services.
• Highly valued: Qualifications in Project Management, Leadership or Asset Management.
• Knowledge of environmental legislation relating to waste and water supply.
• Hands-on leader who stays composed under public scrutiny and makes sound calls.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor three coordinators across water, waste and urban services
• Develop long-term asset management and refurbishment plans
• Prepare statutory reports, business cases and correspondence for Council
• Manage budgets, contracts and tenders for maintenance and capital works
• Represent Council on infrastructure matters with the Director, GM and Councillors
