Job summary

Walcha Council is seeking a full‑time Manager Urban & Utilities in Walcha, NSW. You’ll lead three coordinators across water, waste and urban services and build asset management and forward planning that the function has never had.

Your responsibilities include developing long‑term plans, preparing statutory reports and business cases, and managing budgets, contracts and tenders. You’ll engage with contractors and government agencies while partnering with the leadership team.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in civil or environmental engineering or related field.
• Experience managing water, wastewater or waste services.
• Knowledge of asset management and forward planning.

Responsibilities

• Lead three coordinators across water, waste and urban services.
• Develop long‑term asset management and refurbishment plans.
• Prepare statutory reports, business cases and Council correspondence.
• Manage budgets, contracts and tenders for maintenance and capital works.
• Build relationships with contractors, government agencies and the community.
• Balance strategic planning with hands‑on operational oversight.
• Represent Council on infrastructure matters with the Director, GM and Councillors.
