Job summary

University of Newcastle seeks a strategic School Executive Officer to lead the School of Health Sciences and shape operational delivery. You will partner with senior leaders to drive change, prioritize teaching, research and engagement, and lead a professional team to deliver high-quality outcomes.

The role requires postgraduate qualifications (or progress towards) and proven leadership across complex higher education operations, including budgeting and governance.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of professional staff.
• Provide high-level advice to the Head of School and College General Manager on operational matters.
• Support strategic planning processes and implement School priorities.
• Represent the School in University-wide initiatives and build relationships across the institution.
• Serve as trusted advisor for academic staff and facilitate solutions for teaching, research and engagement priorities.
• Manage the School's administrative operations including staffing, facilities, timetabling and student services.
• Oversee budget planning, forecasting and financial reporting to support informed decision-making.
• Drive process improvement initiatives to enhance operational effectiveness and governance.
• Support quality assurance, health, safety and wellbeing initiatives across the School.
