Job summary

University of Melbourne is seeking an accomplished School Manager for the Melbourne School of Population & Global Health. You will provide strategic, operational and organisational leadership across the school, aligning people, resources and services to support excellence in education, research and engagement.

As a key member of the School Executive Leadership Team, you will translate priorities into practical plans, drive governance, and lead professional services through organisational change

Qualifications

• Experience leading operational, business or professional services within a large and complex organisation.
• Ability to partner with senior leaders and translate strategy into clear, achievable operational plans.
• Strong people leadership experience, including developing capable, engaged and service-oriented teams.
• Demonstrated success leading organisational change and embedding new ways of working.
• Experience managing complex budgets, workforce requirements and organisational resources.
• Highly developed stakeholder engagement, influencing and negotiation capabilities.
• Ability to analyse complex information and provide clear, evidence-based advice to senior stakeholders.
• A track record of improving organisational effectiveness, service delivery and operational performance.
• Strong knowledge of governance, compliance, policy and risk management frameworks.
• The capacity to balance local priorities with broader organisational objectives in a matrix environment.
• Experience within higher education, research, government or another complex knowledge-intensive environment would be highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic, operational and organisational leadership across the Melbourne School of Population & Global Health.
• Translate strategic priorities into practical plans, effective governance arrangements and sustainable operating models.
• Lead the School’s business, operational and professional services functions, ensuring resources support excellence in education, research and engagement.
• Lead professional staff through a period of organisational change, creating clarity, accountability and collaboration.
• Contribute to Faculty-wide initiatives and capability development within Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences.
