Job summary

UGL Transport in Australia is seeking a Contracts Manager to provide commercial and contractual expertise across rail projects in New South Wales and Queensland. You will help protect the company’s interests while driving value for clients through effective procurement and contract management.

The role requires strong negotiation skills, risk assessment and the ability to manage subcontracts from bid to final payment, with a focus on cost control and compliance with governance standards.

Qualifications

• Tertiary education in Engineering, Commerce/Business, Law, QS or Construction Management.
• Demonstrated commercial acumen and contract interpretation.
• Strong cost management and contract law knowledge.
• Experience in contract management, program financial management, risk and opportunity management, performance reporting, budget preparation and administration.
• Experience in lump sum D&C contracts.

Responsibilities

• Lead scope planning to minimise gaps and maximise cost efficiencies.
• Prepare procurement strategies and identify subcontractors.
• Maintain relationships with stakeholders and monitor market conditions.
• Procure the project in line with strategy with fully scoped orders and compliant contracting.
• Negotiate subcontract and supplier terms and ensure execution.
• Provide commercial support during negotiations and obtain required approvals.
• Manage subcontract payment claims, valuations, certification and payments on time.
• Ensure cost forecasting for allocated subcontracts and escalate issues.
