Powercor in Melbourne is seeking a detail-oriented Project Controller for our Urban Programs team, based at the Melbourne CBD head office. You’ll partner with Project Delivery teams to manage forecasts, accruals and budgets across a portfolio of projects, providing clear reporting to support decisions and governance.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance (CPA/CA desirable) and experience in project accounting or controls within infrastructure or utilities.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree or higher in accounting or finance; CPA, CA or a relevant project controls qualification is desirable.
• Experience in project accounting, project controls or financial management within infrastructure, utilities, construction or engineering environments.
• Strong capability in budgeting, forecasting, accruals, cost tracking and financial variance analysis.
• Advanced Excel skills with the ability to reconcile, validate and analyse data from multiple sources.
• Experience working with project financial data in SAP or a comparable ERP system; familiarity with Tableau, Power BI or similar reporting tools is highly regarded.
• Ability to investigate complex issues, challenge assumptions and translate data into meaningful business insights.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with confidence influencing outcomes and driving accountability.
• Ability to manage competing month-end deadlines across multiple projects and prioritise reviews based on financial risk and the size of forecast or cost variances.

Responsabilités

• Coordinate monthly project forecasting, accruals and cost management to support accurate financial performance reporting.
• Monitor budgets, actual costs and forecasts, investigating variances and identifying emerging risks or opportunities.
• Maintain the integrity of project financial data across SAP and related project management systems.
• Analyse financial performance at project and program level and provide clear commentary and recommendations to support decisions.
• Apply project controls, governance and assurance processes to ensure compliance and reporting accuracy.
• Support audits, reviews, lessons learned and project documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
• Improve reporting processes and identify opportunities to automate recurring tasks.
