Job summary

TasPorts is seeking a Programme Manager – Performance and Governance based in Hobart to lead strategic governance and performance functions across the Major Projects portfolio. This senior role provides oversight of project controls including cost, schedule, contracts, procurement, document control, and assurance to enable delivery excellence.

The appointment is a 2-year, full-time contract. You will act as a trusted advisor, partnering with Programme and Project Managers to ensure compliance,

Qualifications

• Proven leadership in project controls and governance for major infrastructure programmes.
• Extensive experience managing multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong understanding of cost, schedule, contracts, procurement and document control.

Responsibilities

• Strategic Leadership & Team Management: Lead a multidisciplinary team and embedded consultants; align objectives with divisional strategy; foster a high-performance, collaborative culture; maintain functional knowledge to ensure continuity during absences.
• Project Controls & Commercial Oversight: Oversee integrated project control systems and tools; lead contract management and procurement planning; endorse commercial processes and advise on risk, compliance, and value; collaborate with legal and commercial teams to ensure governance alignment.
• Governance & Assurance: Maintain frameworks for performance reporting, document control, and assurance; coordinate gateway reviews and ensure audit readiness; monitor compliance with internal policies and external regulations; drive initiatives to improve control maturity and operational resilience.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Act as strategic advisor to Programme and Project Managers; build relationships across internal teams and external stakeholders; represent Major Projects in cross-functional initiatives and governance forums
