Job summary

Wingecarribee Shire Council in Moss Vale NSW seeks a Coordinator Strategic Planning and Policy. This permanent full-time role leads a team delivering statutory planning policy, planning proposals, heritage planning and contributions programs to shape the Shire’s growth while protecting its character.

The role requires senior planning experience, strong leadership, and the ability to prepare strategic advice and policy responses for Council and agencies.

Qualifications

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Town Planning, Urban and Regional Planning, or related discipline, and/or equivalent experience.
• Extensive knowledge of strategic land use planning, Local Environmental Plans, Development Control Plans, developer contributions planning, heritage planning and environmental planning legislation.
• 5+ years in a senior strategic planning or planning policy role leading a team in local government.
• Experience preparing complex reports, strategic advice, submissions and policy responses for senior management and government agencies.
• Experience managing strategic planning projects, policy reviews and statutory planning processes within local government or similar.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to develop and implement solutions.
• Highly developed written and verbal communication skills with diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team responsible for Council’s statutory planning policy, planning proposals, heritage planning and local infrastructure contributions.
• Oversee review and improvement of planning controls and policy framework, including LEP and DCP updates.
• Oversee heritage and contributions programs and prepare strategic advice, submissions and policy responses.
• Provide technical leadership across Council and with government, industry and community to deliver sound planning outcomes.
