Job summary

Maitland City Council seeks a Manager Planning & Development to lead the Development Planning team and drive excellence in development assessment, customer service, innovation and strategic outcomes.

Reporting to the Executive Manager City Development, you will guide planning professionals, balance community expectations with legislative requirements, and support Maitland's growth with sound judgement and collaboration across Council.

Qualifications

• Degree in Town Planning or related discipline.
• Extensive knowledge of development assessment practices and planning legislation.
• Proven track record leading high-performing teams and developing staff.
• Strong leadership, negotiation, and facilitation skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Development Planning team to drive growth and excellence in planning outcomes.
• Manage complex and contentious planning matters with sound judgement.
• Represent Council in legal proceedings, regional forums, and stakeholder engagement.
• Foster accountability, innovation, collaboration and continuous improvement.
