Job summary

BHP in Perth, WA, seeks a Principal Mining Engineer to influence WAIO's long-term planning through strategic mine design and portfolio optimisation. You will lead value maximisation across one of the world’s leading iron ore operations and collaborate with Operations, Resource Engineering, Business Planning and Strategy to deliver high-quality outcomes.

Successful candidates will hold a Mining Engineering degree with extensive open pit experience, demonstrate leadership, and apply data-driven

Qualifications

Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering and broad open pit mining experience.
Proven ability in strategic mine planning and value-based decision making.
Experience with Mineral Resource and Ore Reserve reporting is desirable.

Responsibilities

Champion safety, sustainability, inclusion and operational excellence.
Develop and optimise long-term to mid-term mine plans to maximise value.
Build partnerships across Operations, Resource Engineering, Business Planning and Strategy.
Coach and mentor planning teams to achieve high performance.
Drive continuous improvement of planning methodologies and governance.
Identify and manage planning risks and opportunities.
Provide field leadership and support compliance with standards.
Align hub plans with Life-of-Asset strategies and WAIO objectives.
