Job summary

Ports Victoria is seeking an executive leader to establish and run the statewide Maritime Service Delivery function. This role shapes governance, safety, and service excellence across Victoria’s ports, with responsibility for VTS, PMIS, and complex operations in a 24/7 environment.

The successful candidate will lead a high-performing team, influence regulators and industry partners, and drive continuous improvement while operating across Melbourne, Geelong and other locations.

Qualifications

• Significant senior leadership experience in maritime, ports or safety-critical environments.
• Experience managing complex, 24/7 operational services across multiple locations.
• Strong governance, risk, incident management and service continuity expertise.
• Proven track record leading organisational transformation while maintaining service reliability.
• Outstanding stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
• Excellent communication for advising on complex operational matters.
• Experience in maritime/port operations or large-scale logistics preferred.
• Relevant qualifications in maritime operations, transport, logistics, emergency management or related discipline.

Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of a safe, reliable and integrated statewide Maritime Service Delivery function.
• Drive operational governance, risk management, business continuity and service resilience.
• Provide leadership for Vessel Traffic Services (VTS) and Harbour Coordination operations.
• Act as senior business owner for Port Management Information System (PMIS) operational requirements and performance.
• Lead and develop a high-performing leadership team and build organisational capability.
• Foster strong relationships with Harbour Masters, regulators, port operators, emergency services and industry stakeholders.
• Identify and implement continuous improvement and operational transformation opportunities.
• Champion a culture of safety, accountability, collaboration and service excellence.
