Job summary

The University of Sydney is seeking an experienced HR Partner to provide strategic HR expertise and advice to align with the University’s strategy. You will collaborate with HR Centres of Expertise to deliver an integrated service offering and support leaders with workforce planning, organisational design, and change initiatives.

You will turn complex HR, industrial relations and policy requirements into clear, practical advice grounded in the Enterprise Agreement and University policies.

Qualifications

• Extensive HR partnering experience within a large, complex organisation.
• Clear, pragmatic advice grounded in policy, industrial instruments and employment frameworks.
• Strong experience interpreting enterprise agreements, awards and employment legislation.
• Ability to manage a high-case-load environment with strong prioritisation and escalation.
• Demonstrated record-keeping discipline and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Partner with leaders to understand workforce priorities and provide evidence-based HR advice.
• Translate policy, industrial instruments and HR frameworks into practical options for stakeholders.
• Manage a high-volume portfolio of HR matters with prudent risk assessment.
• Maintain high-quality case records and documentation of interactions.
• Collaborate with HR Centres of Expertise to deliver integrated solutions.
• Provide strategic and operational advice across workforce planning, organisational design and change.
• Support leaders through workforce and organisational change and use evidence-based HR practice.
• Identify emerging issues and support informed decision-making with workforce insights.
• Build capability of leaders to manage people matters and share knowledge across HR.
• Contribute to continuous improvement across HR Partnering.
• Assist with broader portfolio initiatives, including capability development and process improvements.
