Job summary

Fortescue is seeking a Lead Principal – Corporate Development to join the Corporate Development team in Perth. The role focuses on identifying and negotiating acquisitions, earn-in JVs and strategic investments across the Metals portfolio, including copper and critical minerals.

You will report to the Senior Manager Corporate Development and collaborate with Exploration, Technical, Finance and Legal teams on cross-functional due diligence and execution.

Qualifications

• Experience in investment banking, private equity, corporate development or related transactional roles in a global, fast-paced environment.
• Experience in resources, heavy industry, energy or infrastructure is highly regarded.
• Proven record evaluating and executing acquisitions, joint ventures or strategic investments.
• Strong modelling and valuation capabilities with strong numerical and analytical skills.
• Ability to translate complex financial and strategic data into clear recommendations.
• tertiary qualification in finance, accounting, economics, commerce or equivalent.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with stakeholder influence ability.
• Advanced Excel skills and the ability to produce executive-quality PowerPoint reports.
• Demonstrated commitment to Fortescue's vision and values.

Responsibilities

• Undertake financial modelling and valuation activities, collaborating with technical experts and due diligence findings.
• Track merger and acquisition activity in the metals sector and identify opportunities for Fortescue.
• Research and screen investment opportunities across the metals business.
• Analyse strategic options and develop transaction structures and commercial strategies.
• Lead aspects of transactions, coordinating cross-functional due diligence.
• Support negotiations, structuring and execution with external advisors.
• Prepare analysis and recommendations for investment steering committees and Executives.
• Draft investment papers and presentations for Executives and the Board.
• Assist with integration of acquisitions with other support functions.
