Job summary

Hume City Council is seeking a Senior Growth Area Planner to contribute to strategic planning and sustainable growth. You will develop land use policies, planning scheme amendments, PSPs and development contribution plans while providing strategic advice and managing key projects for long-term community outcomes.

The role requires a tertiary planning qualification with strong understanding of Victorian growth area processes and the ability to engage with multiple stakeholders, manage priorities,

Qualifications

• Well-developed understanding of the Victorian growth area planning system including development contributions.
• Knowledge of State planning legislation and the Planning and Environment Act 1987.
• Ability to conduct strategic planning studies, assess submissions and growth area planning practice.
• Ability to provide a strategic perspective on development proposals.
• Strong time management and prioritisation to achieve outcomes within parameters.
• Ability to coordinate with Council staff, Government agencies, consultants and developers.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing new structure plans and development plans for residential, employment areas and activity centres.
• Support management of development contributions including forecasting and tracking.
• Participate in developing new planning strategies, guidelines and policies.
• Prepare amendments to the Hume Planning Scheme and perform administrative tasks under the Planning and Environment Act 1987.
• Represent Council on inter-municipal and inter-governmental forums on growth issues.
