Job summary

Hudson (Australia) is partnering with a Federal Government agency to recruit an experienced Communications Officer (APS6) in Canberra, ACT. The role combines strategic communications, content development and stakeholder engagement to support organisational priorities and industry initiatives.

You will develop and deliver communication plans, translate technical information for public audiences and provide expert advice to internal stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in a communications, public relations, journalism or marketing role, ideally within government or a complex organisation.
• Proven ability to develop, implement and evaluate communication strategies and campaigns.
• Exceptional writing, editing and proofreading skills, with the ability to simplify complex information.
• Experience producing engaging content across multiple digital and traditional communication channels.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills and confidence providing strategic communications advice.
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
• Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent professional experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategic communication plans, campaigns and engagement initiatives.
• Create, edit and publish high-quality content across websites, newsletters, EDMs, social media and internal communication channels.
• Translate complex technical and regulatory information into clear, engaging and audience-appropriate messaging.
• Support corporate communications, executive messaging, media materials and industry updates.
• Provide expert communications advice to internal stakeholders and subject matter experts.
• Support consultation and change initiatives through targeted communication and engagement activities.
• Monitor and evaluate communication effectiveness, identifying opportunities for improvement.
• Build strong stakeholder relationships and ensure communications are consistent, accurate and aligned with organisational priorities.
• Identify and manage potential communication and reputational risks.
