Job summary

Synergy, based in Western Australia, seeks a Policy Advisor to join its Policy & Social Value team in Perth. You will research, analyse and develop positions that inform Synergy's responses to evolving state, national and international energy policy matters.

Working with stakeholders across the business, you will provide insights on policy developments, support strategic decision-making and contribute to responses to government and regulatory proposals.

Qualifications

• Relevant tertiary qualifications or experience in economics, engineering, public policy or a related discipline.
• Experience in policy research, development and evaluation, with the ability to analyse complex issues and provide practical recommendations.
• Strong research and analytical skills, combined with sound judgement and critical thinking capabilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare high-quality briefing papers, policy advice and stakeholder communications.
• Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities while delivering outcomes within tight timeframes.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research and analysis on state, national and international energy policy developments to support the formulation of policy positions and recommendations.
• Assist in the development of policy papers, briefing materials and strategic advice to inform business decision-making.
• Coordinate and contribute to business responses to government, regulatory and industry proposals, ensuring alignment with Synergy's objectives.
• Provide timely policy insights and advice to internal stakeholders on emerging energy, market and regulatory issues.
• Build and maintain effective relationships with government agencies, regulators, industry bodies and internal stakeholders to support policy outcomes and identify implications for the business.
