Job summary

Synergy in Western Australia is advancing the energy transition from our Perth Central Park office, combining generation and retail services for 1.2 million customers.

The Policy Principal role sits in our Policy & Social Value team and focuses on shaping policy responses, advising senior leaders, and engaging with government, regulators and stakeholders to support Synergy's long‑term strategy.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to analyse complex policy and regulatory issues and translate them into clear strategic and commercial advice.
• Strong written communication skills, including experience preparing policy submissions, executive briefings and consultation responses.
• Sound understanding of the Australian energy sector, including the WA energy market and government decision-making processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of Synergy's energy policy priorities, positions and forward work program to support strategic business objectives.
• Analyse emerging policy, legislative, regulatory and market developments, providing strategic advice on risks and opportunities.
• Develop and coordinate policy submissions, consultation responses, executive briefings and other policy documentation.
• Build and maintain trusted relationships with government agencies, regulators, market bodies and industry stakeholders.
• Act as deputy to the Manager Policy, providing leadership and mentoring within a high-performing team.
