Job summary

City of Moreton Bay is seeking a Community Development Coordinator to lead the community development function, shaping long-term direction and organisational impact. You will steer a 13-person multidisciplinary team via two Team Leaders, raise the profile of community development, and drive outcomes across diverse portfolios.

The role requires strong strategic thinking, stakeholder engagement, and experience navigating government structures to deliver social and community outcomes.

Qualifications

• In-depth knowledge of community inclusion strategies.
• Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, multicultural communities and youth.
• Strong strategic thinking, planning and implementation skills.
• Exceptional stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
• Experience navigating government or similarly complex organisations.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and direction to a multi-disciplinary team of 13 through two Team Leaders.
• Enhance the profile and reputation of community development across the organisation, influencing decision making and fostering understanding of the value community development delivers.
• Drive a culture focused on outcomes and impact, helping Council understand and demonstrate how community development initiatives contribute to lasting change for communities.
• Provide leadership support to two experienced Team Leaders across a diverse portfolio including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, multicultural communities, young people, people experiencing homelessness, community resilience and recovery, and prevention of family and domestic violence and abuse.
• Navigate the opportunities and challenges of delivering community development outcomes within a local government environment.
