Job summary

Townsville City Council is seeking a capable professional to support community development and engage with local groups, residents and stakeholders. You will help identify needs and deliver programs that strengthen community connections and respond to priorities.

You will prepare reports and contribute to planning that supports Council’s objectives, policies and services, working collaboratively and maintaining a positive team culture while delivering quality outcomes for the community.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in community development, social science, social work or related field, or significant experience in a similar role.
• Completion of community engagement public participation training (IAP2) or relevant industry experience engaging with stakeholders.
• Experience using Asset-Based Community Development approaches to support community groups and build long-term capacity.
• Strong project management skills, including delivering community development projects on time and within budget.
• Experience in community sector development, capacity building and working within social justice, access and equity principles.
• Research, analytical and problem-solving skills to identify gaps, trends and opportunities for community programs.
• Ability to work independently, show initiative and manage changing priorities in a busy environment.
• Well-developed written communication skills, including preparing correspondence, reports and submissions.
• Current Queensland C class driver licence.
• Working with Children Blue card will be required
