Job summary

The University of Queensland is seeking an accomplished Chief Financial Officer to lead a finance function of about 275 staff and to drive a major finance transformation. You will partner with the senior leadership to shape strategy, investment priorities and long-term sustainability, going beyond traditional financial stewardship.

You will transform management reporting and forecasting, and act as a trusted adviser across academic and professional portfolios.

Qualifications

• Senior leadership experience in a large, complex organisation.
• Successful record of finance transformation and operating-model improvement.
• Strong strategic and commercial acumen with tertiary and professional qualifications.
• Experience leading and developing substantial teams and building leadership capability.
• Credibility with executive teams, boards and governance stakeholders.
• Excellent communication, judgement and stakeholder engagement.

Responsibilities

• Shape financial strategy, investment priorities and long-term sustainability with senior leaders.
• Transform management reporting, planning and forecasting for transparency and accountability.
• Build a trusted finance partner across academic and professional portfolios.
• Lead and develop a large finance team with a culture of trust and continuous improvement.
• Provide strategic oversight of a substantial balance sheet, investments and capital commitments.
• Modernise the finance operating model, systems and processes for a commercially focused function.
