Job summary

Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure NSW is seeking a Policy & Project Officer (Aboriginal Targeted) to shape policies and projects across NSW. The role offers a permanent full-time contract (35 hours per week) with flexible office locations across NSW by negotiation.

The successful candidate will contribute to policy development, undertake research, and support land management initiatives while engaging Aboriginal communities and stakeholders, ensuring culturally informed outcomes.

Qualifications

• Experience coordinating or delivering projects with ability to manage priorities and research.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills with government agencies and Aboriginal communities.
• Understanding of policy development, implementation or legislative frameworks.
• Ability to work respectfully with diverse stakeholders and Aboriginal communities.
• Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills to evaluate options.
• Strong organisational skills and accountability to deliver outcomes in a dynamic environment.
• Willingness to travel within NSW, including overnight stays.
• Experience in policy development and understanding Aboriginal culture, land rights and native title; geospatial skills highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Join the Crown Lands team and shape policies and projects for land and natural resources across NSW.
• Contribute to policy initiatives, undertake research and analysis, prepare advice for decision-makers.
• Support projects that influence land management outcomes and engage with stakeholders.
