Job summary

AKD Softwoods in Oberon, NSW is recruiting a Stores Manager to lead the on-site purchasing and stores function, supporting operations and maintenance teams with timely parts and service supply.

Reporting to the Asset Manager, you will manage a small stores team, conduct regular stocktakes, maintain accurate records, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to achieve value and cost-effective outcomes.

Qualifications

• Experience in purchasing and warehouse management.
• Ability to lead and manage a small team.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Forklift license is advantageous; other training provided if needed.

Responsibilities

• Manage on-site store with critical spare parts and consumables.
• Conduct regular stocktaking and critical spare part reviews.
• Maintain store records and reports; manage value of spares.
• Oversee site purchasing activities to support operations, logistics and maintenance.
• Supervise three purchasing and stores staff.

We have an outstanding opportunity for a candidate with ability and motivation, in the position of Stores Manager at our Oberon site.

Reporting to the Asset Manager, you will have demonstrated experience in purchasing and stores functions, along with the ability to partner with internal and external stakeholders to achieve required outcomes.

This is a great opportunity for the right person to take ownership of the purchasing and stores function on a large manufacturing site. This position will play an integral role in our business, supporting the operations and maintenance teams and leading the on-site store and purchasing activities. The role is responsible for ensuring parts and services are sourced in a timely manner and for providing maintenance, operations, and logistics teams confidence that appropriate stock levels of critical parts are being held on site.

Experience in purchasing and warehouse management is preferred, together with the ability to deal with a range of suppliers, internal customers and to supervise purchasing and stores staff members.

Essential skills and experience for the position:

• Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to lead and manage a small team
• Excellent attention to detail and time management skills
• Strong computer skills including purchasing and maintenance systems
• Forklift license is an advantage but can be provided if needed
• Any training and licensing required for the position will be provided by the company (if not already held)

Key duties & responsibilities will include:

• Responsible for an on-site store holding critical spare parts and consumables
• Regular stocktaking and critical spare reviews
• Ownership of the accuracy of store records and reports and value of spares held in store
• Site purchasing activities to support operational, logistics and maintenance teams and achieve good commercial outcomes
• Supervision of purchasing and stores staff of three.
