Job summary

Southern Steel QLD in Mackay is seeking a dedicated Storeperson to join our Mackay branch. You will handle warehousing and distribution of steel products, using forklifts and cranes where required, and ensure accurate picking, packing, loading and unloading of materials.

The role requires a reliable team player with good communication and attention to detail, capable of working independently in a fast-paced, physical environment while adhering to safety protocols.

Qualifications

• Experience in warehouse operations or a similar role is highly valued.
• Forklift license preferred.
• Crane license or experience with overhead gantry cranes preferred but not essential.
• Physically capable of manual labor in a high-energy environment.
• Excellent communication skills and keen attention to detail.

Responsibilities

Southern Steel QLD, Queensland’s leading steel supplier and processing company, is seeking a dedicated and reliable Storeperson to join our Mackay branch.

As a key player in our operations, you will be responsible for the warehousing and distribution of steel products, ensuring we meet the demands of our customers efficiently and safely.

What You’ll Do:

• Safely handle and distribute steel products using forklifts and overhead cranes
• Accurately pick, pack, unload, load, and stack materials
• Operate machinery such as band saws when required
• Perform general warehouse duties, maintaining a high standard of organization
• Follow safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment for all

What We’re Looking For:

• Previous experience in warehouse operations or a similar role is highly valued
• Valid forklift license (preferred)
• Crane license or experience with overhead gantry cranes (preferred but not essential)
• Physically fit and able to perform manual labor in a high-energy environment
• Excellent communication skills and a keen attention to detail
• A strong team player who can also work independently when required
