Job summary

Hevey Building Supplies in Northampton is seeking an experienced Stock Controller to safeguard stock accuracy and ensure the right products are in the right place at the right time. You will monitor goods in and out, perform stock checks and investigate discrepancies, working with the Branch Manager and team to minimise stock losses.

This is a hands-on role in a busy builders' merchant environment. A proactive, detail-focused candidate with excellent organisational and communication skills will

Qualifications

• Previous stock control experience in builders’ merchant or high-value stock environment.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to investigate discrepancies and solve problems.
• Good communication and teamwork across branch.
• Proactive hands-on approach under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Check incoming and outgoing stock against delivery docs.
• Ensure stock is received, recorded and put away correctly.
• Carry out regular stock checks and investigate discrepancies.
• Maintain accurate stock records on systems.
• Monitor stock levels and liaise with Branch Manager and Buyer on ordering.
• Manage returned, damaged and special-order stock.
• Work with Warehouse Manager to minimise damages and improve processes.
• Coordinate with warehouse, transport and sales to resolve stock issues.
• Support day-to-day branch operations.
• Maintain high Health & Safety standards.
