Job summary

NSW Health at Wyong Hospital is seeking a Sterilisation Technician Grade 1/2 on a casual basis to ensure medical and surgical equipment is cleaned, disinfected and sterilised to support safe patient care.

The role requires attention to detail, the ability to work in a busy environment, and strong teamwork. Training and accreditation may be provided, with progression potential to Grade 2.

Qualifications

• Sterilising Technology Certificate or willingness to undertake accredited Sterilising Certificate.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain high standards in a busy, time-sensitive environment.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Knowledge of, or willingness to develop knowledge in, infection control and Work Health and Safety requirements.
• Ability to prioritise workloads and consistently meet required standards.
• Commitment to ongoing learning and maintaining current knowledge of safe sterilising practices.

Responsibilities

• Clean, disinfect and sterilise medical and surgical equipment according to standards and procedures.
• Prepare and distribute reprocessed equipment to clinical areas to support safe patient care.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised work environment with risk management practices.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues and clinical teams to maintain efficient workflows.
• Participate in training, accreditation and quality improvement activities.
