Job summary

Nexus Hospitals Bunbury Day Hospital is seeking a Casual CSSD Technician to support sterile processing and instrument care within our busy perioperative environment. You will play a key role in preparing the CSSD, ensuring clean and sterile instruments, and maintaining accurate documentation to support patient safety.

Qualifications

• Solid experience as a Sterilisation Technician in a hospital environment.
• Proven knowledge of sterilisation procedures and infection control standards.
• Familiarity with AS 5369:2023 and related infection control standards.

Responsibilities

• Prepare for safe surgery by ensuring CSSD and equipment are ready for sterile procedures.
• Clean, sterilise, inspect and package surgical instruments to protocol.
• Maintain documentation and ensure stock is available for perioperative staff.
• Adhere to sterilisation standards and infection control measures at all times.
• Guide and support colleagues to promote safe practice and teamwork.
• Champion continuous improvement in safety and overall hospital standards.

Our hospital offers a range of surgical services including endoscopy procedures, general surgery, ophthalmology, gastroenterology, hand surgery, dermatology, breast surgery and augmentations.

Sterilisation Technician CSSD - Casual

With respect and collaboration, you will:

• Prepare for safe surgery:Ensure the CSSD, equipment and clinical environment are ready to support safe, efficient surgical care.
• Clean, sterilise, inspect and package surgical instruments
• Ensure all sterilising standards and infection control measures are adhered to
• Manage documentation
• Ensure equipment and stock are available for Perioperative staff
• Guide and support colleagues: fostering confidence, teamwork and safe practice.
• Champion improvement:Promote continuous improvement, safety and excellence across all areas of the hospital.

Who we’re looking for:

You are a compassionate and dedicated professional who pairs clinical excellence with a genuinely warm, patient-first approach. You thrive in a collaborative, down-to-earth environment and take real pride in the high standard of care you provide.

To succeed in this role, you will have:

• Solid experience as a Sterilisation Technician in a hospital environment
• Cert III or Cert IV in Sterilising Services
• Knowledge of sterilisation procedures and practices
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
• Sound working knowledge of AS 5369:2023 and Infection Control standards
• Demonstrated ability to organise the sterilisation needs of the operating and procedure room requirements

• Experience in our hospital’s specialties
• Experience in a fast-paced day/ short stay hospital environment
