Wyvern House, Stanmore, is seeking a part-time (0.6 FTE) STEM teacher to commence Term 1 2027. The role combines explicit direct instruction with inquiry-based learning to deliver outstanding STEM units in a collaborative, team-teaching environment.

The successful applicant will hold a degree in Primary Education or higher, have two years of primary teaching experience, and be adept at using technology to enhance learning. A commitment to pastoral care and co-curricular programs is essential.

  • Dynamic, innovative and successful classroom practitioner.
  • Engage students in a vibrant Prep School education program at all levels.
  • Utilise appropriate technologies to enhance student learning.
  • Work effectively as a member of an enthusiastic team.
  • Show genuine care for students and a strong commitment to proving a safe and supportive learning environment.
  • Enthusiastically participate in the school’s co-curricular program.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver STEM units in classrooms and the STEM space using explicit direct instruction and inquiry-based models.
  • Work in a team-teaching environment to develop and deliver outstanding STEM units.
  • Engage with the school community to promote relationships and positive learning outcomes.
  • Contribute to pastoral care and co-curricular programs as required.

Job description

Wyvern House is looking for a creative and outcomes driven part-time (0.6 FTE) STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) teacher to commence Term 1 2027 who is comfortable teaching through explicit direct instruction and inquiry-based models. This teacher should value collaboration with colleagues, be reflective and open to feedback and continual development, and believe in providing a rich learning experience for every child.

This role is primarily a team-teaching position working in classrooms and the STEM space to develop and deliver outstanding STEM units. The successful candidate will work at Wyvern House in Stanmore.

The successful applicant will be a team player who works well in a collaborative team and is constantly seeking to evolve their own teaching pedagogy. This teacher will also engage with the school community, promoting strong relationships, high levels of student interest, and effective learning outcomes for all students. The successful applicant will be reflective, self-aware, and understand the importance of using student data to inform their own teaching and learning as well as have a growth mindset.
