Job summary

Chandler Macleod is seeking an experienced Steel Fixer for a busy precast yard in Woolgoolga, NSW. You will read drawings, cut and bend rebar, and fix reinforcement inside moulds to ensure accuracy before pours.

Join a hands-on team working with concrete crews and crane/production to prepare moulds, maintain safety, and deliver quality precast components at full-time hours on site in Woolgoolga. This role offers an hourly rate of AUD 45–50 plus super, and the successful candidate will take pride

Qualifications

• Proven steel fixing experience (ideally within precast or similar production environments).
• Ability to read and work from reo/reinforcement drawings and specs.
• Confident cutting, bending, tying, and placing reo to measurement/tolerance requirements.
• Strong safety mindset and ability to work efficiently in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Read reinforcing steel drawings and specifications
• Measure, cut and bend reinforcing bar (rebar) to required sizes
• Assemble and fix reinforcement cages and steel frames
• Tie reinforcement using tie wire and hand tools
• Position reinforcement, mesh, starter bars, ligatures and components inside precast moulds
• Install spacers and maintain required concrete cover
• Check dimensions, spacing and positioning against drawings
• Operate tools/equipment (rebar cutters, benders, grinders, tying tools)
• Assist with setting up and stripping precast moulds as required
• Move/position reinforcing steel and materials around the yard
• Maintain a clean, safe work area and follow WHS procedures/PPE requirements
• Work closely with concrete crews, formworkers, and crane/production teams to prepare moulds for pouring

About the role

Great opportunity for experienced Steel Fixers to join a busy precast yard in Woolgoolga, NSW. You’ll be working hands‑on with reinforcement steel for precast moulds—reading drawings, preparing and tying rebar, and ensuring reinforcement is set correctly prior to concrete pours.
